The Jakarta Environment (LH) Agency and Transportation Agency (Dishub) are collaborating with the Polda Metro Jaya to conduct legal compliance with vehicle emission tests on several roads in Jakarta.

It aims at creating better vehicle emissions, as well as increasing awareness and fostering a sense of responsibility for vehicle owners not to pollute the environment.

Thus far, the operation had been practiced on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, North Jakarta. As a result, 58 vehicles were stopped in which three cars and one motorcycle had undergone and passed the emission tests. While the remaining 54 vehicles had to undergo the emission tests on the spot, where 34 motorcycles and 14 cars passed it.
"Three motorcycles and three cars that did not pass the emission test received a verbal warning from the police," he said.
Even, the same action will soon be carried out on the other three roads consecutively, namely Jalan Pemuda di Jakarta Timur, Jalan Benyamin Sueb di Jakarta Pusat, dan Jalan Tanjung Barat di Jakarta Selatan.
"Hope the vehicle can meet the quality standard threshold for exhaust emissions, thus improvements in air quality in Jakarta can be created," he hoped.
